Within NOAA, the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) collects and provides critical satellite Earth observations and other essential environmental information needed for disaster preparedness, all hazards response and recovery and the protection of the Nation’s critical infrastructure and natural resources, and provides 24/7 global coverage.

CLASS has been developed to help NESDIS achieve its goals as a fully operational system providing secure data archive, access, and retrieval capability to support the long term preservation of environmental data from a multitude of satellite and land based data sources. CLASS also consists of a high-level access portal, data ingest and archive, and metadata repository capability. The CLASS Sustainment IT contract provides for the operations, sustainment, and maintenance of the CLASS program. NOAA anticipates significant growth in both the data volume and the user population for CLASS data, providing a need to periodically evolve current technologies to meet future needs. The CLASS transition will take place in September.

We at INNOVIM take great pride in the services and solutions we provide to NOAA, helping them build and sustain a weather- ready nation. We are proud and excited to be part of an outstanding Solers CLASS team that will allow INNOVIM to continue providing our satellite data management and distribution innovations and capabilities to the environmental satellite data user community,” said Cindi Brown, President and Chief Operating Officer of INNOVIM.
